\sf\purple\ Snowfall \ in \ western \ countries /

I actually thought about it, not in terms of snow but in terms of weather conditions.

This theorem works especially for Europe, I believe. Indeed, almost all of the Northern European countries are the most developed countries in the world.

I thought that, this was because of hard life conditions (lack of abundance of food, need for heating etc) which forced them to be more hard-working. This is also compatible with theory of evolution. I believe evolution is not only physical, by the way.

I am from India , a country where the temperatures are probably average of the world. We have four seasons. So, we have snow as much as sunshine. Just like the weather conditions, our economy and social standards are also the average of the world. This also seems to be in accordance with the rule.

But than I remember there are exceptions.

Firstly within Turkey itself the cities where it is colder (with a lot of snow fall in winter) are the least developed ones.

An then I remember that, once upon a time the greatest powers and most developed civilizations in the world such as the Greek city states and the Roman Empire were in warmer Mediterranean region. Ancient Egypt was also a Mediterranean civilization. France is still among the most developed countries. Portuguese, Italian and Spanish states were also more advanced until last century. Mesopotamia (part of modern day Middle East) is known as the cradle of civilization.

I acknowledge that a number of different conditions can have significant effect on the level of the development of countries. For example Norway is the 3rd among the most oil exporting countries in the world. Can we be sure it did not affect the economy of the region and the neighboring countries ?

And then I remember Saudi Arabia; very rich but still among the least developed countries in the world - at least according the my understanding of development.
