Human activities are the main reasons for the depletion of natural resources
Resources that are available in nature are called natural resources. They are not man-made. They form the base for their human survival. At present more than 60% of natural resources are at the level of extinction.
Let us see some of the reasons for depletion of our natural resources
- Increased Population is a major threat to natural life. Heavy pressure on land and natural resources are seen in urban areas.
- Increased business opportunities can also be a reason for depletion. Export of Goods like Forest products, Marine foods, Natural hand made products have made us exploit the natural resources.
- Deforestation in the rural and urban areas. As said before, there is a lot of pressure exerted on land. More residential plots have increased. Many have opted for an individual villa for their living.
- Constructing buildings in the forest cover for developmental purposes will lead to ecological imbalance.
- More than 50% of the marine ecosystem is at the stage of extinction. This is due to the disposal of plastic waste into the marine ecosystem.
This is an alarming situation. Now we see the effect of climate change. In many places, we experience irregular rains and sudden outpour. It is high time to conserve nature.
