Isn't Calorific Value, by definition, the energy content on volume basis? If so, then based on lower heating values, gasoline has higher calorific value than CNG.

Gasoline = 116,000 BTU/gal

CNG = 21,000 BTU/gal

The lower heating values vary a bit depending on source of information. Above values are from U.S. Department of Energy Alternate Fuel Data Center document.
