1. The party has to secure at least six percent of the total votes in Lok Sabha elections or Assembly elections in four states.
2. The party has to win at least four seats in the Lok Sabha.
REQUIREMENTS FOR STATE PARTY :
1. The party has to secure at least six percent of the total votes in an election to the Legislative Assembly of a state.
2. The party has to win at least two seats.

The requirement for being a national party are as follows....
A party that secures at least 6% of the total votes in Lok Sabha elections or assembly elections in four states and wins at least four seats in the Lok Sabha is recognised as a national party.
Those parties which are country wide parties are called national parties.
National parties will have influence in more than three states.
Tha requirements for being a state party are as follows......
A party that secures at least 6 % of the total votes in an election to the legislative Assembly of a state and wins at least two seats is recognised as a state party.
State party is also known as regional party.
Regional parties will have influence in three states.
