Explanation:

The respiratory system of cockroach is a network of trachea known as tracheal system.

They respire through the small openings called spiracles. These openings are regulated by the muscular spinchters.

Respiration is a metabolic process which is carried out in all living organisms. This process mainly involves the production of energy, naturally with the intake of oxygen and the release of carbon dioxide from the oxidation of complex organic substances.

Insect Respiratory system is not the same as the respiratory system in humans. Animals like birds, lions, cows, elephants, snakes, including humans, have lungs as their primary respiratory organ. In these animals, lungs perform the function of exchanging air with the aid of nostrils, nasal cavity, and the windpipe. However, insects and worms do not have lungs to perform their respiratory function. Therefore, breathing in insects and worms occur through a different system of respiratory organs.
