1) Results of the First Karnataka War

Britain and France signed the treaty of Aix la Chapelle in 1748 and therefore, peace was restored in India as well.

2) By the treaty, Madras was handed over to the English in exchange of Lubar in America to France much against the wishes of Dupleix. Thus ended the first Carnatic war between the English and the French.

3) It was neither a decisive war nor it brought about any change in the territorial possessions of either party. Yet it was important in some other respects.

4) The English and the French came to know the geographical features of the territories extending over nearly one hundred miles around the centers of their power.

5) It also exposed to them the military weakness of the Indian rulers.
