  • Station master is responsible for the efficient discharge of the duties devolving upon the staff employed.
  • Station master is responsible for every official activity that happens in the railway station he is appointed in.
  • Station master must daily inspect the station i.e. the inspection of cabins, signals , level of crossing gates , lamps , goods , weighing machines and station yard and vehicles standing there in atleast once a whole day.
  • He must be responsible for maintaining Accident register and Accident charts and keeping these up to date.
  • He must ensure that the burners and wicks of the hand signal lamps are daily cleaned and oiled properly.
  • He must take personal interest in arranging quick clearance of reserved carriages of public, prisoners , troops , treasuries , etc.
  • He must ensure that the essential safety equipment at his station are the same , complete and if there is any deficiency should be made good without any further delay.
  • He shall be very much responsible for keeping the safety and the operating literature including circulars, gazette , pamphlets, etc up to date and these must be explained to the the staff working under him and got noted by them for themselves personally.
