Classical Age that preceded the Romantic Age stressed the importance of reason and order;but strong feelings, senses and imagination were not given due importance. As opposed to emphasis on intellect, the Romantics like Wordsworth,Blake or Keats preferred feeling, intuition and the heart in their poems.

Accordingly, nature permeates this entire poem. Daffodil, a common flower has been sketched with extraordinary qualities.Wordsworth in his preface to Lyrical Ballads writes that incidents selected for poetry should be come from common life and should be written in language used by common man. This can be observed in this poem. The principal object in the poem is nothing but a flower which is coloured with imagination. Daffodils here are presented to the mind in an unusual way using the language closer to everyday life.
