 {x}^{2}  + ax + bx + ab = 0 \\  \\ x(x + a) + b(x + a) = 0 \\  \\  (x + a)(x + b) = 0 \\  \\ first \: solution \\  \\ x + a = 0 \\  \\ x =  - a \\  \\ second \: soln \\  \\ x + b = 0 \\  \\ x =  - b
