⭐Salient features of Hybridisation⤵
➡Only the orbitals(atomic) of nearly same energy belonging to same atom or ion can take part in hybridisation.
➡No. of hybrid orbitals formed is always equal to no. of atomic orbitals which have taken part in the process of hybridisation.
➡Most of the hybrid orbitals are similar but they are not necessarily identical in shape. They may differ from one another in orientation in space.
➡Hybridisation never occurs in isolated atom but it takes place at the time bond formation.
➡The shape of the hybrid orbital is like the p-orbital except that the two lobes are unequal in size. The bigger lobe always has a +ve sign while the smaller lobe has -ve sign.
