according to bhagavad Gita, 5 senses are compared to 5 horses that lord Krishna rides in his chariot... it is told that god lives within oneself... so we ourself are the divine self and must control the 5 sense organs using mana(sanskrit word meaning heart) and 6th sense being self actualisation
