Since, object is always placed in front of the mirror hence the sign of object is taken as negative. Since, the centre of curvature and focus lies behind the convex mirror, so sign of radius of curvature and focal length are taken as + (positive) in the case of convex mirror.

Sign conventions are...1. The distances are measured from the pole of any mirror..2. The object or image placed above the principal axis is taken as positive and below the principal axis is taken as negative..3. The object or image placed at the left of the mirror is taken as negative and to the right side is taken as negative.......Exception : 'u' is always taken as negative in both concave mirror as well as convex mirror....I hope my answer will helps u a lot..
