periodic table is very useful in determining the properties of elements
blocks also do have some importance
for example s block contains elements with high metallic nature p block contains predominantly non metals and d blaock known as the inner transition series contains only metals
exceptional d block elements show varying oxidation states because of their vacant d orbitals
so it is necessary to define these elemnts under a block

Heya ,

Here's ur answer,

♢There are four blocks in the periodic table And there significance are as follows :

1) S - BLOCK :

○ The groups , 1 and 2 , together with hydrogen form s -block elements.
○The elements of group 1 are called alkali metals and those of group 2 are called alkaline earth metals .
○They have one or two elements in the outermost shell.
○The elements of s block except hydrogen are all metals .

2) P - BLOCK :

○ The group 13 to 17 and the zero group 18 together form p block elements.
○ In the Zero or 18 group elements all the shells are completely filled.
they are called inert elements or noble elements.
○ In p-block all three types of elements are present that is metals metalloids and nonmetals.
○ They have 3 to 8 electrons in the outermost shell.

3) D -BLOCK :

○ The group start 3 to 12 together form D block elements.
○ The elements of d-block are all metals and are called transition elements .
○ Their two outermost shells are in completely filled.

4) F - BLOCK :

○The two series (lanthanides and actinides ) at the bottom of periodic table together form f-block elements.
○Elements in this block are called inner transition elements.
○ The elements of F block are all metals.
○ Their three outermost shells are in completely filled.

Hope it helps you !
