EMERGENCE OF THE BHAKTI MOVEMENT
The bhakti movement which influenced large number of people during 14th-17th centuries in North India appeared due to a number of political, socio-economic and religious factors.
The following are the similarities between the Bhakti Movement and Protestant Movement:
1. Both the Bhakti and the Protestant movement attempted to improve the existing faiths of their regions.
2. Both the movements were against the domination of supreme authority for instance, while the Bhakti movement was against the domination of Brahamans, the Protestant movement was against the domination of the Catholic Church.
3. Both these movements condemned the futile and expensive rituals.
4. Both were against the intermediaries of religion such as priests.
5. The leaders of both the movements tried to spread their messages and teachings by using vernacular languages.
