\huge {\mathcal{Soaps}}
Soaps are Sodium or Potassium salts of long-chain Carboxylic Acid.

Soap molecules react with hard water(contains Mg & Ca) to form insoluble precipitate called Scum .

NORMAL WATER: Allows lather formation with soap

 \huge {\mathcal{Detergents}}
Detergents are generally Ammonium or Sulphate salts of long-chain Carboxylic Acid.

Whereas Detergents form  Lather.

Detergents are non-biodegradable, as they form a thick green scum over the river water and harm animal life.
