1) solar energy:- there are many ways solar energy can work . the common method is a device that produces an electric potential difference when light hits it .

2) wind energy:- one of the easiest way to generate electricity is to rotate a coil of wire in a magnetic field . for the wind generator it seems clear that the wind pushes the fan blades to make them turn , this then powers the normal electrical magnetic coil generator.

3)fossil fuels:- there are lot of things we can burn to get energy like food or wood . fossil fuels are essentially the same thing .
fossil fuels are stored energy from Sun.

4) hydroelectric energy:- it is very similar to the wind generator and fossil fuels plant .
in this coil is turned for water flowing over turbine type thing . so falling water instead of rising steam.

5) geothermal :- basic idea behind geothermal plant is to use this thermal energy in the earth to somehow make steam .

6) nuclear fission :- it takes energy to make uranium . the energy for this creation also comes from an exploding star .

hope this will help you...........
