solid :

1. have shape and definite volume.
2. have closely packed molecules so kinetic energy is less in solid.

liquid :

1. have definite volume and acquire the shape of the vessel in which it is kept.
2. molecules are loosely packed and have more kinetic energy as compared to solid.

Gas :

1. Gas has neither shape nor volume.
2. molecules are placed a far distance from each other and have more kinetic energy as compared with the other two.
