SUB-PHYLUM OF CHORDATA:-

Urochordata:-

  • It is exclusively marine.
  • The notochords are present only in the larval tail.
  • Examples: Ascidia, Salpa ,Doliolum.

Cephalochordata:-

  • Here, the notochord extends from head to tail region.
  • Example: Branchiostoma

Vertebrata:-

  • It also possess he notochord during the embryonic period.
  • Basically, the notochord is replaced by a cartilaginous vertebral column in the adult.
  • Hence we know that all vertebrates are chordates but all chordates are not vertebrates.
