The tanks in Telangana declined bcoz Telangana State to restore 46,000 water tanks. drought conditions due to poor monsoons in the last few years have led to the depletion of groundwater, which has adversely affected agriculture.

✴Tank irrigation has decreased considerably over the years in Telangana and it has also reduced the agricultural output.
⭕The reasons may be attributed to poor monsoons, rampant exploitation of groundwater resources, lack of effective water management practices, lack of community help to maintain tanks.
✴“Mission Kakatiya” is TRS ( Telangana Rashtra Samithi ) government sponsored programme to revive these defunct chain of tanks
