what are the themes in the story "he said it with arsenic" by ruskin bond?
Answers
There are a number of instances presented in this story by Ruskin bond. However the underlying theme for all the cases is more for less same i.e. how Jones indulged himself into killing others or poisoning others.
At first, it showed how terminal patients used to be killed by him when he used to work as a male nurse in an Agra based hospital.
Later, after he fell in love with a married woman named Mrs. Browning, he used to send a bit of poison in powered form to her in letters, so that she could kill her husband by feeding it.
Again many years later, after he came out of jail after an impression meant of eight years, he wanted to poison Rusty i.e. his nephew, but was eventually caught by the latter out of his smartness.
This poisoning contained arsenic and hence the name of the story comes up. He justified himself saying that under that condition, it was the only thing he could use to poison him.
Actually, He wanted to take all the Royalty money from Rusty against his bestselling book.
So, his motif had always been to kill others.
