There are three Components of Maps –

  • distance
  • direction
  • symbol

Distance: Distance is a numerical measurement of how far apart objects or points are. In physics or everyday usage, distance may refer to a physical length or an estimation based on other criteria

Direction: a course along which someone or something moves.

Symbol: a mark or character used as a conventional representation of an object, function, or process, e.g. the letter or letters standing for a chemical element or a character in musical notation.
