The three fold distrbution of legistative power provide in indian constitution are Union list state list and concurrent list.
union list- items included in this list are defence of the country ,Foreign Affairs, banking ,communication ,currency. these items can be framed only by the Parliament of India.

State list- items included in this list are police, jail ,Public Health, hospitals ,law and order, agriculture ,Self defence, justice forest,
revenue and unemployment e.t.c. only the state government alone has how to make laws.

concurrent list- it includes subjects that are of common interest to both the union government as well as State Government. subject included in this list are marriage, divorce ,news paper ,criminal law ,printing press & civil procedure e.t.c. both the government can make laws. if conflict arises the law made by the union government will prevail.
