The three folds distribution of legislative power in India is as follows :

1) Union List : Consists subjects of national importance

Ex - Defence, foriegn affairs etc

2)State List : Consists subjects of state and local importance.

Ex - Agriculture, police etc

3)Concurrent list : Consists subject of both national and state level importance.

Ex- Marriage, forest etc

Residuary subjects are the subjects that were not available at the time of making of constitution but had evolved over time.
