The major components of population growth are :

1)Birth rate : It is the number of births per thousand persons in a year. it is the major component of growth because birth rate have always been higher than death rates.

2)Death rate: It is the number of deaths per thousand persons in a year .the main cause of the growth rate of Indian population is rapid decline in death rate.

3)Migration: Migration is the movement of people across regions and territories. Migration can be internal or International. Internal migration does not change the size of population but changed composition and distribution. International migration changes the population size, composition and distribution .
