The three types of Ration cards issued in India are :

1.  AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) : It is issued to those families who have no stable income or whose income is less than Rs 250-per capita per month. It is issued to old age men, women, unemployed people, and laborers etc. The AAY card holders get the govt. stock (food and other supplies) at very cheap rates.

2.  BPL (Below Poverty Line) : It is issued to the poor people whose annual income is below Rs 27,000. These card holders also get govt. stock at cheap rates but higher than AAY.

3.  APL (Above Poverty Line) : It is given to those who are above the defined poverty line.
