the three voices represent his thinking

according to first voice what gutenberg is doing is good for the society. every man and woman would be educated and men will no longer be the slaves of Kings. knowledge will be spread all over the world and every child will learn to read. even the poorest can buy the books and gain knowledge

then the second voice spoke which want that what he is doing will prove to be a curse rather than a Blessing. books will be printed but not all of them will be good books. they can poison the mind of the society

then at last the third voice told Gutenberg that bad will be done but good will be done greater than bad. the voice encouraged him that the printing press will enlighten the world.
