What are the three properties of carbon which lead to the huge number of carbon compounds we see around us?

1. Catenation- can form chains with identical ( same ) atoms
2. Tetravalent - it's valency which make it enables to form covalent compounds
3. tendency to form compound with non metals and it's small size make it able to form huge number of compounds
