In general terms, The Transcription unit in biology can simply be defined as the segment of DNA (Deoxy Ribonucleic Acid) which is situated between the sites of initiation and termination of transcription by RNA (Ribo nucleic acid) polymerase.

The transcription unit in the DNA (Deoxy ribonucleic acid) molecule consists of three different regions, namely -
