Anticoagulants are chemical substances that prevents or reduce coagulation of blood, prolonging the clotting time.  It is also called blood thinners and also related to anti platelets drugs and thrombolytic drugs, by manipulating the various pathway of blood coagulation.

Warfarin and heparin which  is a biological substance usually made from pig intestine and it works by activating antithrombin III, which blocks thrombi n from clotting blood.
