The Public Distribution System (PDS) evolved as a system of management of scarcity and for distribution of food grains at affordable prices. ... So to remove the loopholes of this system, government re-launched the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) in June, 1997 with focus on the poor.

RPDS➡️Revamped Public Distribution System(in 1992) which was introduced in 1,700 blocks in the country..Its target was to provide the benefits of Pds to remote and Backward Areas
TPDS➡️Targeted Public Distribution System(In 1997) which was introduced..to adopt the principle of targeting all the poor people in all areas..it was the first time that a differential price policy..got adopted for Poor and Non-Poor
