Because they have senses to feel that the natural disasters are going to ouccr soon so to save their own lives, they start running and try to reach at higher places such as mountains etc.

secondly, the animals have sixed sense.
they can guess the coming disaster and so, run away to place. The idea that the animals have more sense more believable.
