Answer:

There are 3 legends:

1. India

2. Japan

3. China

Explanation:

  1. India : During 500 A.D, Fakir Dharma took up a vow to not sleep for 7 years, after about 5 years he couldn't fight his urge to avoid sleep anymore. Fearing that he wouldn't be able to fulfill his vow, he took few branches of a tree where he had camped. He put those leaves into his mouth and chewed. He felt a great exhilaration of freshness and realized he didn't have anymore urge to sleep. This let him keep his vow and that's how tea leaves came into use to make tea as a refreshment.
  2. Japan: A saint made a pledge to meditate for 7 years. He took a vow to not sleep for 7 years. In Spite of the vow he slept one night. Waking up the next morning, he felt so angry at himself for not being able to keep up his word and took a knife and cut off his eyelids. As soon as his eyelids touched the earth, it grew into a beautiful bush with many leaves. He was shocked. He took the leaves and boiled them in water and drank the divine drink. People from all around came to see this wonder and from that day till now Japanese drink tea of the same bush.
  3. China: In china, tea was discovered accidentally by emperor Shen-Nung, in 3000 B.C. He was camping in the shade of a large tea. He kept a boiling pot of water nearby. Suddenly by the heat of boiling water the leaves on the branches of tree above the boiling pot dried up. After which a big wave of wind blew the dried leaves which fell into the pot of boiling water. A sweet golden brew was prepared and sweet smell filled the camp site. The emperor tasted the decoction and make a noise "T'sa" giving out a delicious taste. From that day onwards that accidental decoction is known as "Cha" in china.
