Darwin's main contribution to science was that he explained a mechanism, or a way, forevolution to occur. This mechanism is called natural selection, which is a process in which individuals that are well suited to their environment will survive and reproduce better than other individuals.

Two major contributions of Charles Darwin:

Charles Darwin was English biologist and naturalist who gave theories of evolution. His theory of evolution stated that none of the two individuals of the same species are exactly similar and these differences are due to the genetic differences.

These differences can be carried onto next generation utilizing reproduction. And, there is survival of  fittest. The next contribution of Charles Darwin in the field of genetics and evolution is the book Origin of species. He explained the concept of natural selection and the preservation of the favored race in his book.
