Just we can make magnets,we can make their magnetic properties lose. This is called demagnitizing a magnet. A magnet can demagnitize in the following ways-

1) by rough handling

2) dropping it several times on floor

3) heating it to a very high temperature

4) passing an alternative current through it

5) hammering it several times.

Note-Only permanent magnets can demagnitize by these given ways.
