The two parts of the earth's crust are oceanic, continental. Oceanic and Continental crusts both shift and move.
Their composition is however different. Since the continental crust is made of granite and is less dense than the oceanic crust, they are a bit elevated.
WHereas, the oceanic crust is denser than the continental crust. It is made of basalt rock.
