Tired as they are after strenuous travelling, so the hotels provide wake up call facility to such guests. The receptionist makes a note of all such wake up calls. In case of change of duty, the next person on duty knows whom to call at what time. The receptionist doesn’t require to note the names of the guests; only room numbers are written.
A hotel receptionist must be familiar with flight timings and railway timetables. She/he might have to answer many queries related to flight schedule and railway time tables. She/he might have to assist the visitors in booking tickets. She must be well versed in interpreting the flight numbers, aircraft type, and other symbols related to flight schedules and railway time tables. She must also be familiar with the time format that is from 0100 to 2400.
Internal telephone directory is a very important document for the receptionist. It contains the well-arranged list with the extension numbers and names of all the employees systematically written alphabetically. The receptionist must know all the extension numbers by heart; and the list should be always in front of her for ready reference. The receptionist must regularly update this directory.
