(i) Catenation − It is the ability to form bonds with other atoms of carbon. (ii) Tetravalency − With the valency of four, carbon is capable of bonding with four other atoms.

the properties of carbon are as follows:-
1. carbon have the property to form bond with other atoms of carbon
2. carbon atom is capable of bonding with atoms of O2,H2,N2,S etc. its valence electrons is 4, so it is capable to share 4 electrons from hydrogen
