The two types of satellites are:-

  • Geo- Stationary satellite
  • Polar satellite

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Geo- Stationary Satellite:-

  • They are also known as Telecommunication satellites or Parking satellites.

  • It rotates along the equatorial plane.

  • It rotates at a height of approx. 36000km from Earth's surface.

  • It's angular velocity is same that of Earth.

  • The Orbital velocity of such satellites is 3.1 km/s

  • The time period of this type of satellites is 1.4 hour

  • It's roating sense is from West to East

  • They are projected from equator.

Polar satellites:-

  • This type of satellites revolve in polar orbit around Earth

  • This satellite's orbit is at 90° with equatorial plane.

  • It's time period is 100min

  • It revolves around the Earth at a height of 500km - 700km
