Farmers store grains in silos (metallic bins) or granaries (jute bags) in large scale production. This is done is order to prevent damage from pests like rats and insects.

The large scale storage of Food grains like wheat and rice is done in two ways :
1. In gunny Bags.
2. In grain Silos.
Gunny Bags:
The most common method of storing food grains on large scale is to store in gunny bags and stitch it tightly and they will be placed one over the other in go-downs where pesticide solutions will be sprayed on the stacked gunny bags to protect the grains from pest during storage.
Grain Silos:
In this method, specially designed big and tall cylindrical structures are used to store food grains where they have inbuilt mechanism for the protection of grains from pests.
