The magnetic field pattern due to a bar magnet can be detected in two ways

i) By using iron filling. Spread the iron filler around the bar magnet and it arranges itself along the magnetic field lines.

ii) By using compass needle. We can find out the magnetic field around the bar magnet by finding the motion of the compass needle.
