Types of speed and velocity.

Explanation:

There are four speed forms and they are:

  • Constant speed: an object is assumed to be at uniform velocity when the object travels equal distance in equal time in intervals.
  • Variable speed: It is assumed that an object is in variable speed when the object travels a different distance in equal time intervals.
  • Average speed: average velocity is defined as the uniform velocity provided by an object's ratio of total distance to the total time taken by the object.
  • Instant speed: When an object travels at variable velocity the velocity of that object is defined as instantaneous velocity at any time.

There are four types of velocity, they are:

  • Constant Velocity - this velocity form does not change direction or velocity. An object that travels at a constant velocity will travel at a steady pace in a straight line. An example would be a meteor, or an asteroid.
  • Changing Velocity - this type of velocity has changes in velocity or direction. Either change of pace, or change of direction. This form of speed is often known as acceleration
  • Instantaneous (or Instant) Velocity - is a change of direction and speed at a given time point. The modifications take place at different points on a graph.
  • Terminal Velocity- is for objects falling into the atmosphere. This is triggered by air-resistance changes. Force takes over and accelerates the body toward earth.
