Bio Fertilizer

biofertilizers are not fertilizers. They are directly used for supply of nutrition to crop plants. Microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and blue green algae are largely used as biofertilizers. These organisms are added to the rhizosphere of the plant to enhance their activity in the soil.

Examples

Azospirillum, Rhizobium and Azotobacter can fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil.

Types of bio Fertilizers

☛N2 fixing biofertilizer

• Free living - azetobacter, Nostoc

•Symbotic - Rhizobium , Anabaena

• Associative symbiotic- Azorpirillum

☛ P solubilizing Biofertilizer

•Bacteria - Bacillus substilies, Pseudomonas striata

• Fungi - Penicillium

☛P mobilizing Biofertilizer

• Arbusuclar Mycorrhizae - Glomus

• Ectomycorrhizae - Laccaria , Amanita

•Ericoid Mycorrhizae - Pezizella ericae

☛ Biofertilizer for micronutrients

• Silicate and Zinc Solubilizers - Bacillus sp.

☛ Plant growth promoting Rhizobacteria

• Pseudomonas - Pseudomonas flurescene
