A habitat is the natural home of a living organism. Different types of habitats are aquatic habitat and terrestrial habitat. The water in which these organisms live is called aquatic habitat. An aquatic habitat is an area that is either permanently covered by water, such as ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, seas and oceans etc.Living organisms that live in aquatic habitats are called aquatic organisms. Aquatic habitats are further classified into three types based on the amount of an important abiotic component, salt concentration, which is called salinity. They are fresh water, marine water and estuarine water. The land on which these organisms live is called terrestrial habitat. Organisms that live in this habitat adapt to the different conditions arising from the abiotic components are called as terrestrial organisms. Based on the amount of rainfall, there are three main types of terrestrial habitats – forest, grassland and desert.
