What are the types of compound epithelium?​

Compound epithelium is classified into two categories of on the basis of ability of stretchability :

(i) Stretchable

(ii) Non-stretchable.

Explanation :-

(i) Stretchable:- It is also known as Transitional epithelium. This type of epithelial has four to six layers of cells and the different types of cells having different shapes in their resting stage then appears flattened when stretched.

(ii) Non-stretchable:- This types of epithelial has less ability of stretchability. And is further classified into other types on the basis of different shape of outermost cells present.
