Hii There!!
Following are the types of Dams in the World:-
◆ARCH DAM:- It is a concrete dam which is curved upstream, so as to transmit major part of water loads.
It is a double curvature arch dam, which is curved vertically and horizontally.
◆DIVERSION DAM:- It is a Dam built to divert flowing water from a waterway.
◆HYDROPOWER DAM:- It is a dam that uses the difference in the temprature of water level to run the turbines of the generator to produce electricity.
◆OVER-FLOW DAM:-It is designed to be overstopped.
◆MASONRY DAM:-it is a dam which is constructed by bricks, or concrete blocks etc. joined together.
A dam having only a masonry facing should not be referred to as a masonry dam.
A rubble dam is a stone masonry dam in which the stones are unshaped .
Hope it helps
