What are the types of diffusion explain with suitable process.
Answers
There are two such types of diffusion .
Passive Diffusion ( OSMOSIS )
Osmosis is the movement of molecules of water from its region of high concentration to region of low concentration provided that the two regions are separated by a semi permeable membrane .
Example of semi-permeable membrane is cell membrane .
Facilitated diffusion ( DIFFUSION BY CONTACT )
This type of diffusion takes place by contact . Molecules from their region of high concentration travels to the region of low concentration when the two regions are kept in contact .
Example is diffusion of oxygen in lungs
NOTE
Diffusion results in the intake of carbon dioxide for plants while osmosis results in the intake of water from roots .
Another type of diffusion is Active transport which requires external energy .
