some types of motion are
1. rotatory
eg. a fan
2. translatory
eg. a jevlin when threw in air
3. torque
eg. hinges of door show torque motion
4. clockwise and anticlockwise
eg. clock or wheel
5. uniform circular motion
eg. direction of velocity at any instant in circular path

Objects show motion in different ways some object move along a straight line such as a train running on a railway track, some subjects rotate on an axis such as blades of a fan and some object show to and fro motion such as motion of a swing .

On the basis of the way of its movement motion of object is of three types :-

➝ Linear Motion

➝Circular Motion

➝Oscillatory Motion

\boxed {Linear \: Motion} :- when an object moves along a straight line ,it is called linear or rectilinear motion such as :-

  • Car moving on a straight road.

  • Train moving on a straight track.

  • Motion of a cyclist on a straight road.

  • A boy sliding down a slope.

  • March past of soldiers in a parade.

  • motion of a bullet fired from a gun.

  • falling of a stone.

\boxed {Circular \: Motion} :- when an object moves along a circular path such a motion is called circular or circulatory motion.

examples of circular motion :-

  • Motion of blades of moving fan.

  • Motion of a spinning top.

  • Motion of a spinning wheel.

  • A bull moving around a central Poll.

  • A potter's wheel

\boxed {Oscillatory \: Motion} :- Take the stone tied to a thread hold the thread in your hand. with other hand pull the stone to one side and let it go. This is pendulum.

On releasing the stone it is moving towards the mean position at them moves to opposite side reaching the maximum position, it comes again to the mean position and so , pendulum shows to and fro motion about a mean position. Such a motion is called oscillatory motion.

other examples of oscillatory motion :-

  • Motion of the pendulum of a wall clock.

  • Motion of a swing.

  • Motion of the string of a guitar when it is played

  • Motion of the surface of a drama on being played

  • Motion of the needle of sewing machine

\displaystyle\huge\blue{\underline{\underline{More\:About\: it}}}

In many cases it is possible that the object is at rest ,but its parts are showing motion for example :-

  • A clock on the wall is at rest ,but it had show circulatory motion.

  • An automobile moving on a straight road has linear motion but its wheels rotate in circular motion.

  • In a sewing machine, a needle oscillates and its wheel rotates and machine itself remains at rest.

  • See the motion of a ball in the ground ,it throws and rotates while moving forward so it has rectilinear as well as rotational motion.
