On the basis of integuments ovules are divided into three types :
(1) Unitegmic: A single integumented ovule is called unitegmic ovule.
Example: members of Gamopetalae and mostly gymnosperms.
(2) Bitegmic: Two integumented ovule is called bitegmic ovule.
Example - In most of Angiosperms
(3) Ategmic: The ovule in which integuments are absent is called ategmic ovule .
Examples: Loranthus, Olax, Liriosma, & Santalum.

Ovules are classified in three categories on the basis of number of integuments: Unitegmic: When there is single integument in the ovule, then it is known as unitegmic. e.g. Gymnosperms. Bitegmic: When there are two integuments in the ovule, then it is known as bitegmic.
There are six types of ovules:
Orthotropous or atropous ovule. (ortho-straight, tropous - turn)
Anatropous ovule. (ana - backward or up, tropous - turn)
Hemi-anatropous or hemitropous ovule.
Campylotropous ovule.
Amphitropous ovule.
