There are four main types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory
Declarative / Assertive Sentence

A declarative or assertive sentence states a fact, opinion or idea.
Most sentences are declarative. A declarative sentence is followed by a period (.).

Examples:

He sold cakes to the class.
No, I do not like to eat fish.

Imperative Sentence

An imperative sentence gives a command or a request.

Examples:

Go to your room now

interrogative Sentence

An interrogative sentence asks a question.
An interrogative sentence is followed by a question mark (?).

Examples:

Have you ever seen a flying fish?
Would you like another piece of pie?
