Answer:

Shadows are always formed on the opposite side. Transparent objects cannot form a shadow. They are only formed in opaque or translucent objects. If we take a glass slab, no shadow is formed because it allows light to pass through it.

Answer:

In case of transparent object,if we pass a beam of light through it,the beam of light clearly passes through it without stopping any thing. Here the shadows are formed on the opposite side.It won't form a perfect shadow showing its shape.

In case of translucent object say oily paper, the beam of light passes through it partially that states it is not showing clearly. Here also the shadows are formes on opposite side.It partially forms the shadow.

In case of opaque object, the light beam wouldn't at all pass through it at any cost. Here also the shadows are formes on the opposite side. Here we can clearly see the shape of the object in the shadow.Ex:wood, metals, vessels etc.
